Until Mon 31 Aug
Voices Rising is about celebrating young creatives in Waltham Forest.
It invites young people aged 11-25 years old who are connected to Waltham Forest, as residents, students or workers, to send us a piece of work they have created during the lockdown. The aim is to create a space where young people can reflect on their experiences, through spoken word, poetry music or speech, and platform these responses to a wider audience.
Submissions will be launched here on the Walthamstow Garden Party website over the festival weekend (18 & 19 July) and beyond. More information can be found on the MVP Workshops website. Applications close Friday 31 July.
Voices Rising is also platforming a selection of local young talent on East London Radio over the festival weekend. Don’t miss the chance to hear from 4 artists and bands who applied to perform on the Earthly Paradise Tent stage through the Open Call process in January. Listen out for interviews with the artists and their original music which spans jazz, punk, RnB and pop. This content will also be available here after the festival weekend for those that don’t catch the show.
Voices Rising is produced in collaboration with Beatroots Creative, Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning, Future Creatives, MVP Workshops, Waltham Forest Music Education Hub and young people of Waltham Forest .
