BringBackTheBeat presents Vilma Rae
Paying homage to David Bowie’s ‘Starman’ lyrics, Vilma Rae describes her sound as hazy cosmic jive, a combination of new wave, italo synths and dark electronics, full of groovy basslines and boogie riffs - an unexpected disco jam. Keywords to describe her set would be: obscure, cosmic, sexy, elegant, bloody, exotic.
With ten years’ experience, she floats between Athens and London for her gigs. She’s played at venues such as the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, Ruby’s, and Camden’s Dublin Castle, and alongside artists such as Vercetti Technicolor, Black Devil Disco Club, Beppe Loda, Nadia Ksaiba, Moxie, Cassius, Mark Moore, to name a few.
She performed at Odyssia Festival back in August 2016 in Greece using her Methi Blonde moniker. The festival showcased the best local DJs alongside worldwide artists such as Harvey, Discodromo, Lovefingers and Danny Krivit. She also did a guest set for the ‘Rhythm Connection’ show on NTS Radio hosted by Nadia Ksaiba and Dan Beaumont last September.
Before joining us on the Sunday of the festival, she will perform at Lovebox Festival in Victoria Park on the Saturday, at the Corona Sunsets stage alongside Guy Williams, Pete Herbert, Horse Meat Disco and Norman Jay, helping to celebrate the festival’s fifteen years of success.
