Amadou & Mariam with the Blind Boys of Alabama
Percussive pop and sharp synths meet smooth vocal passion and slick guitar lines as Malian duo Amadou & Mariam collaborate with the Blind Boys of Alabama for a new project fusing African pop with American gospel singing.
Combining their love-story with a love for music, Amadou & Mariam’s music spans across three decades of teamwork and genres from Afro pop to global dance. Having worked with the likes of Damon Albarn, Santigold and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the duo are no strangers to the power of creative collaboration. The Blind Boys of Alabama first formed as children in 1930s America, celebrating the gospel music they grew up with and showing that ’disability doesn’t have to be a handicap’. They are now recognized worldwide for their contribution to the genre and are winners of five Grammy awards.
